Getting Started
Ideas for programs
Here are some ideas that may help you in thinking about making your first program:
- I would like to share with you some stories/music/poetry/etc. that I have
written…
- I want you to know about this injustice…
- We would like to know what you think about this…
- I would like to share an important belief with you…
- We want you to know about this event so that you can share it…
- I know a bit about ____ and would like to share this knowledge with
you…
- We need your help…
- I have learnt about something I think you should know about…
- I would like to share some of my favourite music with you…
Local people can and should make programs of relevance to them – not what they think everyone else would like to hear.
Getting Started
- Ask some friends or relatives to make a program with you.
- Place a note on the notice board indicating your program ideas and
inviting others to contact you
- Come to the next workshop and meet people other people interested in broadcasting
- Ask a Contact Person to help you with the technology and/or to make a
program with you
- Borrow a portable tape recorder and make a program at home/work/a party
etc.
- Listen to other people's programs and contact the maker if you would
like to join with them on their next program or make a program in
response
- Get some friends together and have everyone respond to a word chosen at
random from the dictionary. People can draw upon their own experiences and
express their response in a variety of ways (stories/anecdotes, opinions,
poetry, songs, sketches/plays etc)
- Contact the maker of a RAT (Regular Air Time) program which interests
you and ask if you can join with them.
