Radio Northern Beaches - Collaroy Beach Sydney's Northern Beaches Community Radio Station

Working Groups

Apart from the board of directors, there are several groups of people that work to keep Radio Northern Beaches on-air on a day-to-day basis.

Seasonal Committees

Seasonal committees take responsibility for some aspects of a 3 month 'season' at the station including:

  • Planning and implementing special projects or initiatives to stimulate program-making within the community
  • Reviewing current systems and, if appropriate, recommending changes to the board.
  • Organising and conducting a workshop during their season.
  • Preparing written reports for the board and general membership (via a newsletter)
  • Preparing scheduling sheets (including organising RATs)
  • Ensuring each week\’s schedule is full and preparing the Manly Daily Time Out section for publication on Fridays.
  • Recording Community This Week, which is played twice every day.

Although the committee's season is only 3 months, the responsibilities will require the committee to meet 6-8 weeks prior to their season. The idea is that although participation in a Seasonal Committee is a heavy commitment, it is for a short period and, providing all Co-op members take their turn, it is a commitment that need not occur all that often. The committee consists of 2 board members and 2–4 general members.

Technical Committee

The technical committee looks after maintenance and repairs of the equipment both in the studios at Narrabeen and at the two transmitter sites. They also plan ahead for future changes and equipment upgrades. If you have a problem with some equipment, write a message in the technical logbook at the office desk.

Executive

The board meets once a month to make policy decisions and to plan for the future of the Co-operative.
